*Have nothing to do with sth: sth과 아무 관계가 없다

Have nothing to do with라는 것을 그냥 보면

sth과 할게 아무것도 없다... 잉?

이럴 수 있는 것 같다

하지만 ~와 함게 아무것도 없는건 상관이 없는 거니까

아무런 관계가 없다! 이런 뜻이 되는 거다!

쉽고 간단한 표현인데 제법 많이 사용 할 수 있는 표현인 것 같다!

★This is a long shot 가능성이 거의 없겠지만!

여기서 a long shot이라는 것은 야구에서 나온 표현이라고 한다

장타라는 것이 자주 나오는 것이 아니고 힘든 일이기 때문에

적은 확율! 즉 가능성이 적겠지만!

뭐 이정도로 해석될 수 있다

모두가 알다 시피 야구와 미식축구는 미국을 대표하는 스포츠이다

그러다 보니 스포츠에서 나온 표현들이 좀 있는데,

이것들은 언어뿐만 아니라

문화도 함께 알아야 이해할 수 있는 표현이기 때문에

미드와 같은 매체를 통해 익힐 수 밖에 없을 것 같다.

A Raincheck은 우천시 취소표라는 의미인데

나중에 다시 방문할 때 이 표를 내밀면 공짜로 입장이 가능하다

그렇기 때문에 다음 경기로, 즉 다음으로 미룬다는 의미가 된다

이 역시 스포츠로부터 나온 표현이다!

What took you so long? 왜 이렇게 늦었어?!

보통 왜 이렇게 늦었어? 를 영작하면

Why are you so late? 이라고 떠올릴 것이다

하지만 "What"을 이용해서

What took you so long? 뭐가 널 오래 걸리게 했어?!

라는 의미로도 굉장히 많이 사용된다.

여기서 What's takin' so long? 으로도 활용이 가능한 것이다

뭐가 오래 걸리고 있는거야? 라는 의미로 말이다!

친구가 늦으면 이제 Why are you so late?

대신 What took you so long? 을 사용하는 것도 좋을 것 같다!

주로 인터넷을 하거나 그럴 때 미드를 그냥 틀어놓고 듣고 있는데, 문득 딱 꽂힌 한 문장이었다

한국 드라마에도 자주 나오는 대사인 것 같기도 하고..ㅎ

네 길에 서있는 사람이 되고 싶지 않다는 표현이 재밌기도 하고...!!

그리고 보다보니 좋은 표현들이 있어서 정리해봤다
