Housing
1. What kind of problem does your country have about the real estate market? Please give me a detailed description of the problem.
There are some problems about real estate market in Korea, and I think the biggest one is the market is unstable.
In Korea there is a special way to rent a house called 전세, it's only for Korea.
It's like a way to rent a house, but don't pay every month, pay big money just once two year and when you leave the house, you can get the money back.
I know Korean real estate system is quite weird for foriegners, but it's the way we rent a house
And Korean poeple want to have their own house, and they hope the price of the house goes up.
It means buying a house is kinda investment in Korea that's why poeple buy it even though they get loaned from bank.
but thesedays people don't know if the house price goes up or down, so they hesitate to buy a house right now. so people prefer 전세 to buying it. beacuse of that, the price of 전세 is almost same as buying and sometimes it's more expensive, but the anxiety of the house price makes people want 전세.
so now Korean goverment must publish a reasonable real estate policy to relieve citizen's worries.
- What problems are there in housing in your country? What are people faced with about housing these days? What issues in housing do they talk about?
2. Is there a government agency which can handle the problems in the real estate market? If so, what activities does the agency usually do? Please tell me about the agency with many details.
Actually, I don't know about this topic that much. but I'll try to explain this as much as possible
Goverment keeps doing something to control the house price but I think it's never worked out.
they've just published so temporary and superficial policies so I think Korean real estate market's never been stable.
and I think it's not just because of goverment but the way that citiznes thinks.
Korean people think where I live estimates my own value, so If I lived in a house that is 100 million wons, I would be a person valued 100 million wons. and if someone lived in rented apartment, people would ignore them, and in severe cases, they say to their kids "Don't play with those who live in rented apartment." when I heard that, I was really really shocked!
where people lives can't judge their value! but it's real!
so I just think Korean people'd better grow up! be more mature!
3. How have the house or housing in your country changed over the last 10 years? Tell me all about the changes in the houses or housing you know in as much detail as you can.
/ How have houses changed in your country since the past? Tell me with a lot of details. / How have your houses changed since you were young? What kinds of houses did you live in when you were young? And How about now?
Actually, I don’t know exactly how have the house changed for 10 years. So I explain changing of house seen from my experience. Since I was born, I'd lived in a house not an apartment until I was 21 years old. And then I moved to an apartment. During living a house, around my house, there are not apartments. I think at that time High apartment building is only located in center of Seoul. But nowadays almost all of houses have changed apartment builds. During childhood, I don’t like apartment because it is desolate for me. At that time, the apartment complex is very not eco-friendly, there were only apartment buildings and cement floors. But thesedays, around my apartment, there are so many trees and flowers throughout the complex. And during childhood, we usually use oil as fuel, but now all of apartments use gas, I think it's more eco-friendly than oil. So now, I still like a a house but I like an apartment as well.
4. Now, let’s talk about your house. Please describe it in detail. / Please describe your house in detail. / Now, let’s talk about your house. Where do you live? What kinds of things are there around your house? And How does your house look like? Tell me in detail.
- I live in an apartment at Eunpyung-gu with my family, and it's on 10th floor.
Actually it was first time I live in an apartment so it was not that comfortable for me at first but now I'm used to it.
I've lived in this apartment for about 4~5 years right after the construction was done, so at that time there were nothing like convinient stores or something but now even though many buildings are under construction, there are tons of stores I can use.
and there is Bukhan Mt near by my apartment and I always can see the scenery of beautiful Mt, at my balcony.
and the best thing is my apartment is so close with a subway station and a bus stop.
someday I should leave this house, but it'd be always my sweet home
5. How does your room look like? What kind of furniture is there in your room? Do you like your room? / Where do you live? How does your room look like? Describe it in detail. /
- My room is not that big, so I can't put a closet in my room so I just have a dress hanger.
and I just have a bed and desk with bookcasse it's an only place to put books on so there are all of books in my home on my shelf. it's the worst thing ever... it looks so messy but there's nothing I can do.
Actually I think my room is my own territory so sometimes my mom or sister get in my room without my permission. everytime they do, I feel I get invaded but they don't care about it. so I should stand it til I have my own house.
as I said earlier it's my own place to feel relaxe and comfortable so How can I not love my room?!
6. Please tell me about the countryside in your country. How does it look like? How do people who live there look like? Tell me in detail.
I think it's not that different with your country's houses. as you know in cities there are only so tall buildings like a skyscraper but in countryside you can see some houses which are one or two stories of with farmland.
How they live is almost same as city people. jsut they usually follow the plough or rasie cattles, pigs or chickens. but thesedays food-and-mouth-disease and AI which means Avian Influenza are the biggest problem to farmers.
and people who is in the agriculture industry is affected by FTA with China
so it's not easy to live in countryside thesedays
7. What do people in the countryside usually do in each season?
It's depends on what people does, one who is in the agriculture industry just do farming from spring to fall and in winter they just prepare next year, next spring.
and the other who is in the stock growing just take care of their cattles, pigs or chickens in every each season!
there's nothing special in Korean countryside life, just same as yours.
8. Have you had any memorable experience while you visited countryside? When was it? What did you do there? Why was it so memorable? Tell me as much detail as possible.
Actually I've never had any experiece in countryside, 'cause my grand parents used to live in city, and I just travel some attractions in Korea. so I can tell you, I've never been countryside entire my life.
So I think I can tell you other story at other questions.
9. I live in Canada. Just ask me three or four questions to learn more about where I live, I live in the USA. Just ask me three or four questions to get more information where I live.
I've never been Canada / USA so I have some questions I need to ask you. so where do you live now? a house or an apartment? I think in there people prefer living a house to an apartment.
And as far as I know usually apartments are cheaper than houses, is it right?
I think in Korea apartments are more expensive because of location. in Seoul, or some city around Seoul, there are almost only apartments and the demand is higher that's why apartments are more expensive.
And... Do you live in a city or countryside? And I want to know how different does people live in city and countryside.
and as last question, do you live with your family?! sometimes I really want to be independent from my parents it's kinda hard in Korea now.
10. I live with my roommate in my apartment. Just ask me three or four questions about my roommate.
11. Please describe your house. What responsibilities do you have for in your house? And What others do for what? Tell me in detail. / You live in a house with your family members. What responsibilities do you have at home? And what responsibilities do others have? Tell me in detail. / What kinds of responsibilities do you have at home? What responsibilities do you family members have? Please tell me in detail. / On typical days, what responsibilities do you usually take at home?
Doing the dishes is usually my job in my house 'cause when it comes to washing the dishes, nobody beats me, so my mom wants me to do that. And now I'm in between jobs so I do many things such as doing the laundary, vacuuming, mopping and sometimes even cooking. In a family of my parents' generation usually mom, wife usually do almost house chores. and when I was growing up my mom did too! but now my sister and I helped her a lot.
but sometimes I should do both cooking and doing the dishes, everytime I do that, I become quite annoyed! of course my sister and dad come home after work, and now I don't work so it's natural that I should make dinner for them and clean up. it's not optional 'cause it means my mom come home at late night, and if I did not, she'd have to do that when she got home. but it's still annoying! so I just feel my mom was so poor... she always did that alone!
so I just make my mind if I got married, I would do house chore a lot for my future wife. and at least if she cooked, I'd wash the dishes!!!
12. Now, I’ll give you a situation. Please act it out. Window in your house has broken. Call a repair shop and explain the situation. Then ask some questions to repair it. / The window in your house has been broken. When did you find it out? Why was it broken? How do you solve the problem? / Call a repair shop and explain the situation. Then ask three or four questions to repair the window
Oh! Boy! the window's broken! Why does everything always happend to me...?!
Anyway.. I gotta call the repair shop now.
Hi! is this XX repair shop?! this is Beomsoo, I'm calling to fix my window, I don't know what happened but it broke last night. so I think I should replace the window so would you let me know how much it costs to replace it?! and when is it possible to fix it?! I should be out of town for a while soon, so I need you to do that as soon as possible. and you know, I always call your store everytime I got problems so.... Can I get some discount?! Well... actually thesedays I'm short on cash, so listen, I've recommended your store to many people! I believe you can do this for me. if so, see you tomorrow! Thank you!
- There appears to have been an accident
13. But you have to solve a problem. You should have it fixed by next week. Call the repair shop again and suggest 3 or 4 ways to do it. / You have to have the window repaired by the day after tomorrow. Call the repair shop and explain the reason. / You have a problem to resolve. You and the repair man had a plan to repair the window the day after tomorrow but you have something urgent so you have to fix it as soon as possible. Call a repair shop and explain the situation and give two or three reasons.
Hi! is there XX repair shop?! This is beomsoo again. you remember I said I should be out of town for a while, and this schedule's been advanced so I should fix it by next week.
so is it easy to replace it?! if you're busy, I can try to do that by myself. and if so, it'd be cheaper right?!
and
14. That is the end of the situation. Have you had an experience that something was broken in your house? It might have been a window or something else? What was it? What was the reason? How did you solve it? Tell me everything in detail.
15. Do you have any special memory with one of your family members? When was it? Who was she or he? What did you do with him or her? Tell me from beginning to end.
When I was a middle school student, I traveld with my dad, only me and dad. you know, Korean students should study hard and taking private lessons a lot. at that time I was sick and tired of everything. I totally lost my interest of studying. You know, in Korea there is 학원, which means in there, teachers usually teach advanced lectures I mean if I were in 6th grade, I'd learn lecture of 7th or 8th grade. and I was under a lot of stress. so my mom told me 'why don't you travel with your father for a while?' so I just went with my dad.
I didn't remeber exactly what we did but we just
7. What housework did you do when you were a child?
9. Have you had any memorable experience while you were doing house chores? What house chores did you do? Why did you do them? What happened? Why was it so memorable?
15. When you rented a house, what problems did you have? What did you first consider when you solved the problem? How did you resolve it?
15. These days, houses have changed a lot and technology also has affected modern houses. Please explain how it has affected houses.
12. I live in a brand new house. Just ask me three or four questions about my house.
☆When it comes to wash/do the dishes nobody beats me, I'm so good at that!
설거지에 있어서는 누구도 날 이길 수 없다! 내가 짱임 나 졸라잘함!
